(I’ve circled it)Ĩ) Now we are ready to erase part of the gif on top. They’ll be the top layers in the pallet and will have locks next to them since we linked the layers, so you should be able to find them okay.Ħ) Now hit ‘control + g’ to group all those layers together.ħ) Keep the group selected, and add a layer mask. You should only see the first gif, in my case the Isabelle one because I put it on top, but your other gif is underneath.ĥ) Go to your layers pallet and select all the frames for the gif on top (my Isabelle one). A menu will pop up and you need to use these settings:Ĥ) Now your first gif is pasted on your second gif. Once they are selected, go to the animation menu and hit paste frames. Select all the frames on the second gif (My Simon one). So keep all the frames selected after you’ve flattened them, and select “Copy Frames” from the animation menu.ģ) Now take those frames to your other gif, in my case Simon. In this case, I am overlapping the Isabelle gif onto my Simon one. I don’t think it really matters, but some look better on top in the final product. Make sure they have the same number of frames.ġ) Once you’ve colored, sharpened and made your gif to your liking, you’re going to select all the frames and select “Flatten Frames into Layers” on both gifs.Ģ) Now pick which gif you want to put onto the other. In the case of this tutorial, my example is 245px by 200px. (There are tons of tutorials out there if you don’t know how) Choose the two scenes, people, etc that you want to overlap and make two separate gifs. You’ll crop them for whatever size you want your gif to be. If you have any questions feel free to message me! I used Photoshop CS5 for this set, but I am sure it works with all versions.įirst you’re going to need a basic concept of how to make a gif. I really kind of discovered it by experimenting, and I am sure there are better/easier ways to do it, but this is what I did. I had a request on how to do overlapping gifs like in this set here.
